The Benefits of Training

Public speaking can make a person anxious. Most people do not necessarily have a good experience the first time speaking before an audience. Signs of a nervous speaker include:

• shaking
• sweating
• stuttering
• looking down
• in rare cases, some people even faint

It all comes down to fear. Many people fear being the focus of attention. This fear of attention comes from a fear of rejection and looking foolish in front of others. Many people with a fear of public speaking worry they will come across as negative or foolish.

Many people with public speaking fears simply avoid any situations where they may have to speak in front of others. Avoidance may work for a while, but unless planning a life of reclusion, it is not a logical choice.

A great way to learn to love public speaking and make a positive life change is to overcome public speaking fears with public speaking training. There are several ways to go about public speaking training.

• Read a Book on Public Speaking – The simplest way to start is by reading public speaking books. There are tons of books about public speaking available. Everything from public speaking techniques to overcoming public speaking fears. Check with your local library to see what books they have on hand.

• Watch a Public Speaking DVD Course – A live DVD public speaking course is a great step after reading books on the subject. Tips and techniques come across simpler when a person can actually see them instead of just read about them. Public speaking DVDs may also be available at your local library.

• Attend a Public Speaking Class – This takes a little more courage than reading a book or watching a DVD, as you will actually speak in front of others during class. Public speaking classes are available at local learning centers, colleges, and sometimes even through your local chamber of commerce or a local toastmasters group.

Public speaking training will help a person suffering from fear feel confident when speaking in front of others. Overcoming this fear makes life so much easier and it is not near as hard as people might think. Training expenses for overcoming public speaking fears are usually well worth the modest cost. Just imagine using your new public speaking skills to become anything from the CEO of a big company to delivering the perfect toast at a friend’s wedding.
